Oh Sony you make it too easy sometimes...http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3153775
I wasn't planning on buying GT anyways but this really leaves a sour taste in my mouth if it's accurate.
Ha what a joke... Things cant get any worse for Sony... I find it hard to believe that not one sane person works there that doesnt see this is crap...
I wasent planning on getting GT either since its just a supped up GT4 with motorcycles and eyecandy...
Acctually here is an idea dont buy it.
Loss of sales has always shown a price drop. As far as having a sour taste in the mouth just figure out that it was all the WOW and FF11 Gill and gold sellers that brought about commerse on the gaming consoles. Before that it resided plesantly on the PC where true gamers have spent millions on extras and paid real cash on ebay for game money and land in a virtual world. but boo hoo now its comming to the consoles lets see who buys and who doesnt then decide what is sour.
Im sorry but you have to admit this is bullshit... Making people pay for tracks and cars in a racing game (instead of earning them like your supposed to) is messed up and greedy... You cant defend that... And i find this really hard to believe that you dont see that... And compairing having to pay for 200+ cars and tracks (that you have to pay for individually) to a character that you only pay $15 monthly on is insanity... I respect your beliefs and views (fanboyish as they are) but you cant come on here being Arrogant with that "True Gamer" shit like that... Saying crap like "boo hoo" or "here is an idea dont buy it" isnt welcome or respectfull... Im sorry you cant respect our views the same way we respect yours but theres no reason for you to be an asshole about it.... Our opinions on the PS3 are based on the facts given to us, not our console loyalties... Some of us royally dislike this pay per month/item crap... If we choose to have a "sour taste" about it then we should be allowed to... We are all gamers with many diffrent tastes and opinions on the games we play... But then again I guess im not a true gamer, because i dont pay to play WoW and FF11 on the PC... Also .... Then i guess all of Sony Greatest games are results of poor sales... MMOs are not games. MMOs are virtual worlds where people don't have to think about reality. If I want to pay to play for my games, I expect to do it once. I'm not ready to shell out upwards of $400 for a complete GT game. COMMERCE ON GAMING CONSOLES IS STARING NOW?!?! Try again. XBL started in 2002. And The first MMO with commerce was UO, IIRC. You argument is an attack and that is not appreciated. Try being more civil with your arguments or take em somewhere else maybe? Loss of sales has always shown a price drop No. It's called time. To win over those who have yet to buy a game or system, the publisher will time the price drop accordingly. Why do you thin the DS dropped to $130 less than a year ago? To get more people to buy them, and in no way was Nintendo losing sales in the DS. Get your facts straight before you say we're the one bitching.
It kinda figures so ready on the attack to my
sarcasm which I guess is still fanboyism where that is I really try and cant see it tho. PC fanboyism hmm not me well maybe I could be an ass not assuming anyone else is a fanboi here not at all . Perhaps so quick to attack a so called fanboi for because of a struggling fanboy following. Unsure finding out one lives in a minority world. As far as finding one thing lame I would have to include alot of other things that are lame including the PC true gamers who paid out of the nose to Bill gates and the added console buyers who didnt learn that that was the way of things at microsoft. also to add all the other extra money or monies payed out to others for more game play and subscribtion based content. Pay to play has allready made its way to the console why point out something that has allready been revealed anyhow oh I know its because of the 4 letter word that comes before it SONY.
I hesitate to step into this argument, but I really don't believe that "paying loads of money" makes you a true gamer.
To echo what DMN said, the level of 'Microtransactions' that GT is taking it to is bad. VERY bad. Some things are definitely better left earned. Personally, I can understand buying *some* cars. Not many, not all, but some. GT is a very niche game, and most people (IMO) that like the game probably only like 1 or 2 of the car companies. Being able to have a game with only those cars is a nice bonus feature, but certainly doesn't justify the cost of this game as compared to it's predecessors. This level of modularity is also bound to boost loading times, which always sucks (Smackdown v Raw 2K6 PSP anyone?). If I need to justify myself, just look at Ultramix 3's load time. That's just for a few bits of art and a few song. The game shouldn't need to preload the stepchart (but those can't be terribly complex anyways). Just my $0.02
I think you seem to be under the impression that we are all Anti-Sony because we dont like this "microtransaction" crap or alot of the other things about the PS3... Yes we have made alot of threads about how Sony is doing poorly but its the truth... Things are not looking good for Sony... And we arent basing that on opinion but the facts... The facts arent distorted or slanted (No Spin Zone) because everyone "hates/has it in for" Sony (Eventhough thats totally untrue) its the truth... Maybe the fact that we discuss the bad news on Sony means that we really do want the PS3 to succeed (or maybe its because theres no good news on it)... At least i do... I dont own a 360 or a high quality PC for me to play WoW or FF11 optimally (thus not making me a "true gamer" i guess)... Deep down i want this bad news on the PS3 to go away and have it pan out in the end but i REALLY dont see that happening... I truely hope im wrong and that a year from now im eating crow or my foot...
Care to have some FACTS to back that argument up? Microsoft clearly did not win the last console war, but they did win in one aspect: Online play. XBL was the first online console system to really do online play right (Sorry, DC fans). There were microtransactions ($5 sonpacks for DDRUM com to mind), but nothing that would prevent the player from otherwise having a full game. Regarding fees for subscription, one of my friends at MS, who happens to work on LIVE, says a lot of those fees go into server costs. I think maybe 3-5% of those fees go into profit. Sony's system was decent but not the best, because not very many games were supported online, which unfortunately was the downfall of the PS2's online play. Nintendo (whom I happen to work for) had a bad way with the online thing. They realsed internet adapters, but did not supports them. It was a joke. Now to the other points: 1) Regarding you are an admitted Sony fanboy: I don't really care about that. You have your right to choose what camp you root for. I'm not going to attack you for that. I am attacking Sony because I think some of the business decisons made regarding the PS3 are not the best. What I will attack you for, however is your way of argumenting; I'd take you a whole hell of a lot more seriously if you did not type like you were 13 and just discovered the Net.
Oh, wow. PC gamers are "true gamers"? Does that make me a "fake" gamer, then? I don't like playing games on my PC because it crashes a lot, and it crashes even more often when I'm playing a game. Consoles don't require installations and hardware upgrades to play the latest game. Anyways, back on topic: in my opinion, paying extra to actually play a game you've already paid for is a rip-off, and one of the reasons I've never bothered with MMORPGs. Let's hope that GT HD isn't a success, or other publishers may follow Sony's example.
Look, it's quite obvious Greywulf is very defensive about Sony, and continuing this argument doesn't solve anything since he probably will come up with something else to say every time. This could only lead to a flame war and should be stopped before it starts.
I reconmmend the lockdown of both this thread and the Microsoft Adds 1080p Thread.
