According to AICN Peter Jackson has named Neill Blomkamp director of the live action Halo movie... Now the obvious question here is "Who is Neill Blomkamp".... Well he is pretty much an unknown... He has done several visual effects and 3d animation for shows like Smallvile, Dark Angel and SG1... He has only directed a few short films but other than that he is just an unknown...
Im sure Jackson saw something in this guy and related to him a bit... He too was a reletivly unknown director (aside from Bad Taste and Frighteners) when he was given the chance do LOTR, now look at him now...
In some ways this is good and bad... Its bad because he isnt experianced and is about to tackle a huge project with an equal size fanbase... The good is that he is very digital effects oriented (which your gonna need on this) and that the movie will be more of a surpise when its released...
Anyways if you want to check out a REALLY cool short film that Blomkamp directed and did effects on check this video out called Tempbot...
