Hey, we haven't forgotten our roots as a Music Video Game station. Talk about DDR/IIDX and all that note smashing here.

DS Homebrew FTW.
Stepmania port to the DS has been released.
If grooving to the gaming beat is your thing, then perhaps you'd like to try out the latest build of the DS port to one of the most renowned open source rhythm games out there - StepMania. Entitled "DsDsRevolution", the game is a pretty much a clone of StepMania for the Nintendo handheld, utilizing the same button-mashing timed gameplay.
Just like any other rhythm game, you have to time the correct button presses along with the arrows that scroll across the screen. The port still allows you to load custom .ogg and .mp3 files which you can play using the game engine. However, it doesn't come with any pre-packaged songs, so you'll have to download them separately.
You can read the instructions on how to install the game, as well as other relevant information, on the developer's project page, accessible through the link below.

I wouldn't assume any connection... considering this is just Stepmania.... and a very stripped down version at that.
I'm interested in this commercial you speak of though.... *searches youtube*

I think he means one of the DDR games that are "commercially available" (as in non-arcade)

I love Berryz Koubou!
I just had to register to say this.
Notice Berryz on the bottom screen of the picture?
