Operator 11 (webcam) replacement

Operator 11 (webcam) replacementUnless we get some big news on operator 11 coming back to life this week, we will probably make our recent hiatus from the site indefinite.
I'm seeking a new home for our webcam this week, and I've been given two strong leads: ustream.tv -- popular cam site that other broadcasters lose. I'm not a super fan of the way the site is designed, but it appears that we could set up episodic content similar to what we had on operator 11 Justin.tv -- Another popular "lifecasting" site that streams more of a constant feed of video Personally, I'm leaning towards justin.tv based on some discussion in chat last week. I see justin.tv as being a bit more of a "behind the scenes" kind of broadcast, and honestly I think that's why most people are watching the cam feeds in the first place. Although I liked Operator 11's episodic content, and there was *so* much potential for special shows like we did for the Mario Galaxy premiere or the Guitar Hero III unboxing, I think the reason people tune into the cam in the first place is that they just want to watch what's going on behind the scenes during a recording. But those hoping for a 24/7 feed and wanting to catch us at an awkward moment, sorry but I don't really see that happening... We'd really only have the cam on during broadcast times and maybe other special random occasions. I'm curious what ya'll think, or if you have any alternate suggestions I'd love to hear those too
Poor Scot, just when he thought everyone'd forgotten about that, you gotta go and bring it up again.
But either way you go, I'm all for it. (You do still intend on demoing new releases, right? I did like the DQ: Swords demo, that game looked like fun.) OLRmy since 6/23/2002!

Travis has been using Camstreams for a while for his show and its worked out pretty well with very nice quality... Unfortunately it doesn't have the episodic thing that Op11 has... Also i believe its free, but so is every other site...
But if you still want to do the "unboxing" type shows then i would think recording it on the cam and throwing it up on Youtube would be fine (that way you could record it anytime you want instead of doing at the end of the After Birth)... Besides, the OLR Youtube page has been lonely ... Just throwing that out there... The other alternative is for you guys to move to NY (or me to move there) and have me shoot, edit and produce the show in studio on HD... But that won't happen...
Well I think the thing about the 'unboxing' specials is it still had the chatroom interactivity, if they just recorded it without it, it wouldn't be the same. Camstreams does work pretty well though, although again, I don't know if you'd be able to save the footage and say, up it to your OLRTube OLRmy since 6/23/2002!

If you go with Justin.TV, People can make an archive of the shows by creating Highlights by clicking on the Date and the Time in the archives.
I don't know how long you can record a video stream at Ustream.TV
That and I don't know if ustream or camstreams saves their stuff, but our average part a/b is usually between 90 minutes and two hours, depending... and 30 mins. to an hour is usually enough for an 'unboxing' special like the ROCKBAND one or DQ Swords. Hopefully we'll get an update on sunday, so stay tuned! OLRmy since 6/23/2002!

Well I wouldn't be surprised if they did like they did with OP11 and just used our gamesurge.net room for chat. Depends on how their cam is setup, and what rob rob rob wants to do. OLRmy since 6/23/2002!

I'm pretty sure it's set up that way but here's the channel if you want to check it out:

Sorry for bumping an old thread since rob's already gone with justin.tv, but I wanted to mention that you can, infact save your favorite clips to youtube... I accidentally put one on my account (because I thought it was asking me to log in again... oops) but if they ever wanted to add episodes or whatnot to OLR's 'tube channel, you totally can!
