I have successfully made a proof on concept build. Unfortunately it's just a switch at the moment. But I have tested it in windows and it works. Anyways I will have a full FAQ and pictures soon. Hopefully I'll have a working pedal done this week. I just need to find a pedal to use.
Now the only bad news is while the pedal works, the game doesn't support it yet. So unless Frets Of Fire adds this functionality it's kind of useless at the moment. Well at least I didn't spend the money on it.

Build Your Own Guitar Hero 2 (XBOX 360) Effector Pedal

You could always solder it in to take the place of the Guitar's tilt sensor for Star Power in the meantime, although I presume you don't want to slice up your new controller for now.
With a little bit of steelwork and one of those foot-sized switches like effect pedals have (I'm pretty sure you can get those at an electronics store?) you could make something that looks quite a lot like a real pedal. That's it, I'm going to Radio Shack tomorrow. Inspiration!
