Classic controllers to work on the Wii?

Postby ssj100matt » Tue Jun 13, 2006 3:09 pm

Apparently this hasent been confirmed yet but it seems that the Wiimote will come with special attachments so you can plug in various classic controllers to play on the Wii Virtual Console...

As you can see you might be able to plug in Turbo Grafix 16, Sega Genesis, Snes, NES and N64 controllers into it using a special adapter for each... That to me is a really cool idea... I still have my Genesis and all of my nintendo controllers. So now i can brush all the dust off of them and whip them out for the Wii... Another great idea thought up by Nintendo...

It's gotta be possible.
Though I hope it's not restricted. I wouldn't mind using my SNES controller when playing NES games. The NES controller is a bit too small and pointy.

These adapters would allow us to reuse any hardware we already have.
And that is a GOOD thing.

That's fantastic since I have all of those controllers, except I don't see a DUO controller...

...I have the systems they go to as well.

I would guess there wouldn't be restrictions seeing as the controls are just getting mapped to a controller so for example A on a NES controller would be the same as A on a SNES controller or A on the retro Wii controller.

Do you know the terror of he who falls asleep? To the very toes he is terrified, because the ground gives way under him, and the dream begins.

This was explained by someone who works for nintendo at a panel I was at this weekend. She said it was just showing all the different types of games that will be playable and how the wii fits right in there.
