As advertised on the homepage, slash dot, and Nintendo themselves they have changed the name of the Revolution to the Wii... Nintendo UK broke it down easily
'Introducing Wii.
As in “we.”
While the code-name “Revolution” expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games … and each other. But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like “we,” which emphasizes this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive “ii” spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that’s Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Because, it’s really not about you or me.
It’s about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything.
Pretty well put i must say... People probally wont this new name because it sounds crazy but in all seriousness who cares... Just as long as i can get it and i can play Smash Bro's on it first thing i can careless what they call it... Once Smash Bro's comes out for it ill end up calling it "Smash Drive" or "Smash Box", because i dont call Gamecube its given name me and my friends call it "Smash Cube" because thats all its pretty much used most for (aside from RE 4)... Im sure great games will come out for the Wii but its going to be funny having kids go into school bragging to their friends "I GOT A WE".... Childish but i can see that happening[/quote]
