PSP - Megaman and Street Fighter

Postby sithspawn » Tue Feb 07, 2006 8:11 am

What does everyone think of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max for PSP? The few reviews I've read say it's great but the controls blow. I'm a massive Street Fighter fan but what good is a fighting game with poor controls? Anyone own or have played this for PSP?

Also, what about the Megaman X remake for PSP? Why pay 40 bucks for a remake of a game for SNES. Again, I'm a MM fan...but 40 bucks for something I can still play on my SNES? I guess I was expecting something like the Mega Man Anniversary Collection...

I remember alpha 3 for the GBA. a 6 button fighter on four buttons? at least the PSP has the 6 buttons to do it with.
Maverick hunters, I've heard is sweet. Total remake, and after you beat it, you can play through as another character.

I'd imagine if you thought Darkstalkers controlled well then SFA3 should be just fine for you. It seems to vary between people, I personally think the PSP's d-pad sucks hard for 2d fighters and found it didn't work well. Of course there's that cover thing that seems like it might help, but screw that. Poor design is poor design. I don't like relying to crap like that just to make it comfortable.

Of course others found that Darkstalkers plays just fine. If you're one of those, then I can't see it being a problem.

The Megaman X remake is FABULOUS. Seriously, go buy this. It has an OAV included once you beat the game, and you can play the game as the first miniboss afterwards (whoever he is, he looks like Boba Fett).

VERY fun game!

I heard that SFA3:MAX (at least the Japanese SFZ3:DU) came with a special d-pad adapter that goes over the regular PSP d-pad and makes it more like a regular Super NES-style d-pad.

Maverick Hunter sounds cool, though personally I never got into the X series, but that's just me. (Megaman: Powered Up sounds like a winner though, and it even features a level-building utility... )

Although the one I'm really looking forward to on PSP is Capcom Classics PSP. That one has freaking Black Tiger on it! (as well as Captain Commando, another favorite of mine.)

Yeah, that's the adapter I mentioned in my post. From my understanding is it's a semipermanent fixture as well due to the adhesive to hold it in place for abuse like fighting games.

It was offered with the US release as a preorder special if you bought it directly from Capcom as well.

Somewhat tying in the Alpha/Zero PS2 collection news into this...

Why is it that the handheld conversions keep getting great extras and such? Granted, I don't know that the PSP version contains the extra characters that the GBA version had...

But it appears the version in the upcoming PS2 collection is just plain ol' Alpha 3. If they're going to include Alpha 2 Gold... uhh... err... Alpha 3 Upper, pretty please? Me likey to play as the Fei Long...?

Then again, it's just a ploy to get me to finally get a PSP. A new DBZ game and yet another port of a Street Fighter game is really all it will take, I suppose ;_;. Capcom, let me count the ways I have already purchased this game...

I love Mega Man X and I bought the collection and MHX. The game is totally different and redone. The best part is that it has a storyline that can be followed with more of it.
