Nintendo continues to surprise people with a new announcment to the redesigned Nintendo DS now named Nintendo DS Lite....

Apparently its going to be 2 ounces less, 3!!! brightness settings for the screen, and slightly smaller in size (133.0 x 73.9 x 31.5mm -- the old DS was 148.7 x 84.7 x 28.9mm)....

judging from the pictures its looks ooohhhh soo nice... and it makes me feel stupid for buying my DS last month.... The new sleeker DS will hit Japan Early March (March 2nd)... No time set for US but im sure it will be the Hottest import of the year (next to KH2 of course)....

I wouldn't say that I'm surprised.

nintendo has done this numerous times with the gb, gba, gbsp, gbmicro... whatever, whatever floats thier boat. I agree with Loki.. not surprised one bit..

Might as well hold off on this first batch since cute colors of DS lites can't be that far off

The new design looks good, the d-pad looks better and overall it seems like it might be a bit more comfortable. They designed it a bit after the Revolution styling it seems. I don't plan on getting one myself, I already have 2 launch systems that I paid $150ea for, I don't plan on just tossing them away for these. Unless they come out with a Hello Kitty branded DS or something.

Well, im surprised since Nintendo revealed the new design a week after they denied one in development... Sure we expected this to happen just as we expect a redesigned Revolution in the future but i didnt expect it to be so soon after they denied it being in development...

The DS does look nice but im mad I just bought one like 3 weeks ago I should have known to wait a while but oh well I just hope they dont make to big of an upgrade.

Bought one 6 days ago...Whoops! Still, I absolutely love the DS and I have more regret not getting one a lot sooner.

Anyway the denial closely followed by a contradicting announcement is going to set a new precedent for rumor analysis in the future

thats all i thought about with it... I dont really care i bought mine like 2 months ago ish and i dont really care about the new one... I mean.. hell id like to have a smaller one in my pocket... and all... but it doesnt really matter... its still the same thing really....

unless if there is like 50 extra features.... then id be pissed

Don't forget, Nintendo needs to start a whole new chain of products in order to add features in.

(Gameboy -> Pocket (new: IR) -> Color (new: color) -> DS (new: screen))
