PSP Help :\

Postby jbean3535 » Sun Dec 25, 2005 1:39 pm

So I got this PSP and it made me upgrade to 2.0. Is there anyway I can downgrade and still have an internet browser or no? Also, I'm having trouble connecting to the internet with it. It picks up my neighbors wireless routers but not the one in my house right next to it. Any suggestions on either of these?

1) No, you cannot downgrade and keep the browser.
The browser was a new feature in 2.0, and without 2.0 (or greater) you won't have it.

2) If either of the routers are secured via WPA, you can't connect to it without (1) knowing the key and (2) having firmware... uhhhh, 2.5 or 2.6 or something.
2a) If either of the routers are secured via WEP, you can't connect to it without knowing the key.
2b) If the routers are unsecured and you can't connect to it... uhhh, sorry.

Yeah, its not secured. I got it to pick it up but even when the PSP is directly next to it, the signal is still REAL low.

EDIT:: New router and it works. It was the old router that was the problem

Now another question. Is there ANY SAFE WAY of downgrading from 2.0 to 1.5?

Safe?
No.
Because there's no legal downgrader.

There's plenty of sites offering the downgrader legitimately, but if you run across one with Trojan.PSPBrick, then you just downgraded yourself into a $200 paper weight.

LOKI might still have the working one around, let's see if we can poke him into this topic.

Thanks a ton. I have been looking for one but and VERY cautious about using any of them after seeing what it has done to others.

That was the exact one I was looking at too. Thanks a ton man. I hate to keep bothering everyone but does anyone know a working Video format converter for PSP? I have tried like 3 and neither of them worked.

EDIT:: So I found this eBoot thing that apparently lets you play homebrews on 2.0? Is it worth trying? http://www.fanjita.org/psp.html

It's worth trying. I'm pretty sure it doesn't support everything but it's a start. Also we have the loaders being worked on based off the GTA:LCS cheat device that are supposed to work with firmware 2.01, 2.5, & 2.6.

I forget the name of my video converter. It works great though.

Ah, Thanks a ton once again. I will try this eBoot thing and see how it works.

I can fully recomend the 2.0 eboot loader it runs (pretty much) everything just fine. I'd say go with version 8.5 as 9.0 is still too unstable!

It's definatly worth checking out though I've been using it eversince I was forced to upgrade for GTA.

Yeah, it works but the compatability list is so small. It also runs really wierd.

Actually the compatability for it is really high!
And just about everything works (except ISO loaders (thank god) and maybe the GBA emulator) all running at full speed or close to it.
Ensure you're running version 8.5.
What version are you using?

No, just from reading the compatability list and then seeing what all is out there. No IIDX either :(
