PS2 charges iPod

Postby freakotaku14 » Sat Nov 26, 2005 11:52 pm

well, i was bored the other day, and i thought, hey what would happen if i plugged my iPod into my PS2, and nuthin special happened except it charged my iPod, i just thought its kinda cool how an iPod will leech power off of anything, even a PS2.

USB devices can pull power from "the bus", it's a basic function really.
This is why flash drives (those 2GB and less) don't use batteries, yet function beautifully when plugged into a computer or similar.

I remember when a friend first got his PS2. He had this cheesy little "kids messaging device" that featured a usb connect.
Plugged it into his PS2 and "wowie, I can charge one game while playing another!", yeah, he was a real kid at heart :P.

So yeah, it's not just the iPod, it's (almost) any USB device. And yes, it is a very very very very helpful feature in some cases.

Heh, not the 360 controller. I plugged the play and charge kit into my PC and it didn't work after that.

I was about to say. I re-read the subject and laughed, realizing my error. Then I read the thread and realized that I hadn't made an error :P.

Not to mention the PSP doesn't have a normal USB port.
*fixes subject line*
