How Did Your Wii Launch Go?

How Did Your Wii Launch Go?Just like the other thread but for the Wii... How did your Wii launch day go for you?
Mine went ok... I went to TRU to get my reserve early right when it opened so i could snag some accessories... And with luck i managed to get an extra Wii-mote and Nunchuck... Classic Controllers were sold out in about 30 seconds... There were plenty of games there but since i had mine reserved at my EB is just got the system and the controllers... Afterwards i went home and hooked everything up and installed the updates... I then went to my EB and picked up my Zelda, Excite Truck and Red Steel reserves... Overall pretty easy experience... No stabbing or clawing people... Although one trying father offered $500 to some guy in exchange for his Wii when he walked out of TRU... He agreed and both guys went home happy... How did yours go?
Well, I had planned on waiting for my nearest Target store to open. On the way there, I passed by my local Best Buy. It was quite a sight. I swear, there were over 200 people camping outside of the place. The line was so long that it went all the way down past the Old Navy which is a few stores down.
I arrived at the Target store, and it looked like there were only about 30 people camping outside. I walked over there and looked around the side of the building... Can you guess what I saw? PEOPLE. MANY. Some dude told me he had been waiting since 1 AM (It was now nearly 6:30 AM) and he said there were about 150 people waiting in line, but only 60 systems were available. Needless to say, I took my leave and headed over to the Circuit City across the way. I was quite surprised to see that there were only about 10 people waiting there. So, I decided to go get in line. While standing in line, I learned from someone that the previously mentioned Best Buy across the road had only 15 Wiis in stock, yet there were 200+ people waiting outside. Poor souls. After about an hour and a half of waiting, the manager came outside and handed 18 people vouchers and told us to come back between 10 AM and 12 Noon. I was #14. After they handed out the vouchers, they put up a poster stating that they have temporarily sold out of Wiis. A few people, including myself, took the opportunity to take pictures such as this: I was quite pleased. I headed back to my car and drove past Best Buy again, holding up my Voucher card to the poor citizens as I drove by. In retrospect I probably shouldn't have done that as it may have caused many of those people to fall into some sort of deep depression. After some breakfast at McDonalds and listening to an angry woman at Wal-Mart yell about the lack of Wiis on sale, 10 AM arrived and I went inside and picked up Zelda and my shiny new Wii console. The fact that many people had spent the night outside of Best Buy and Target waiting for a Wii amuses me. The fact that many of those people failed to get one amuses me even more. I guess I should pity them or something since I spent the night in my bed, got up at 6 AM, waited only 1.5 hours in line and managed to obtain a Wii with little hassle. Maybe I just got lucky, but whatever.
I went last night for the midnight launch at my EB but I forgot my ID and Receipt and for some reason they wouldn't take my mom's ID so I had to wait till this morning. And last night my parents changed their minds and only let my get Zelda cause they didn't want me spending that much money. So I got it this morning but they ran out of remote's so I went over to circuit city and got a remote but they were out of nunchucks so know me and my brother can't box.
I documented my camping experience, just threw it together and put it on YouTube. I don't think the video is active just yet but it should be soon. Hopefully.
EDIT: Nevermind, silly YouTube won't let me put it on since it's 15 minutes long.
I went at midnight to EB and waited in line that took forever due to many line cuts by parents and people getting suckered into the extended warranty. Although this warranty is a good idea and always was the prices have hiked up a lot for them in the past years and I had to stand there for about 2min just saying no for an extention (no joke), meanwhile I get the idiot look from the clerk.
Not enough to go aroundToday, WalMart keeps putting player's choice bundle up and down. Then I get past the order review, it gets my billing and payment info, and then instead of the confirm screen it tells me the item is sold out. I sent a WTF to customer service (in nicer language). How is that even possible with an automated system? In this case, it IS the retailer.
Grrr. Argh.
I was lucky enough to get a pre-order in at the E/B near my job last month. The store only had 16 at launch; so it was almost like Groundhog Day the night of the launch. We all saying "yeah, I remember you from the pre-order line". It all went pretty well besides the fact that I should have pre-ordered a 2nd Wiimote and nunchuck. I haven't been able to find one anywhere.
Almost exactly my story except I went at 2:00 AM and I was number 23 out of 39...Well and there was one more thing. They only had like 10 nunchucks so even though when they opened the doors at 10:00 and I was the 4th person in line, they were out and I wanted atleast 2. So I'm not sure %100 why but I drove by Best Buy Which had a bunch of people lined up, but they had started letting people in. and there, about 2 people from the front of the line I saw my friend's boyfriend. I dont know him that well, but i was desprate, so i asked him "If I give you the money, will you get 2 extra nunchucks?" and he agreed and thet made my day. Yay for friends at the front of the line. ^_^
I camped outfront of my walmart for nine hours and was number 14 in line out of 20.
I had a lot of fun actually waiting in line for it because of all the other neat people in line with us. (My brother waited with me.) We got free pizza, hot chocolate, and coffee if we wanted too! I called up my buddy and he brought me out an Xbox and TV with four controllers. We started playing Halo 2 out there and my brother and I ran through the entire game in Heroic difficulty while waiting. Someone came by and yelled at my brother "Adam, you're such a loser!" while we were waiting. Someone else in the line remarked back "Adam, you're the only loser here!" I had fun We finally got our tickets at 11:30 and went inside to claim our Wiis. I didn't have any money, so my brother made all the decisions (my boss is a duche and is broke... how lame eh?). He asked what games are worth buying at launch and I said Zelda and Red Steel. He chose Red Steel . They had enough Wiimotes and nunchucks for everyone to have 2 more sets with like 14 sets left over. (14 people left with four sets of wiimotes and nunchucks haha) I had fun waiting, and it was the first time I ever used the Picto-Chat thing on my DS and actually talked to someone haha. (All but four people in line had a DS).
A few days before the Wii launch, my mom and I went down to the mall to see if the EB Games and GameStop there were taking pwii-orders. They weren't, as they were out of those, but the staff there promised us that there would be 140 per store at launch, and told us to come back in the morning on launch day.
So I went to the mall around 9:00am to get my Wii, and was about #30-35 in line. (The mall didn't allow people to camp out the night before.) We were then escorted into the mall at 10:15. I had no trouble getting my Wii. I was about by 11:30 or so, and even after eating lunch, there were still people in line!
