I saw that lastnight.
WOW. Well I know where my alliegance lies this round of the console wars, LOL. DT
And who would that be?
Yeah, the New York Times kinda released the launch date early. There's some story from WiiFanboy.com (I think that is the site) releasing the news first. Ehh who cares who released it first, we got our F'N Launch Date! Edit: Oh and usa today has a story in their paper about the wii as well.
Gee... I dunno how I feel about this. I was expecting the Wii to be a lot cheaper, somewhere around the 150-199 ranges, and I was going to be in line on launch day to get it. Now with it being 280 CDN, it makes it a much bigger investment. With the rising cost of game and accesories, I don't know if I can buy a Wii and miss out on the chance to get 4 good 360 games. As well, paying 49.99 for the controller, sans nunchuck, is just plain ridiculous. THe wireless 360 controller is around the same price as the two added together. And SD cards are like 89.99 per 1 Gig card, so add a card there and a controller there, you pretty much have a 360 right there.
Damn, well, I guess I'll wait and see.
Im not going to lose sleep over the additional $50 for the system... Just be happy its not $600.... But what does concern me is the price for the extra controllers...
$40 for a Wiimote $20 for Nunchuck attachment $60 for a new controller.... Thats alot... $60 + extra if you want to play with other people... If i was gonna be an asshole i would charge my friends money so they could play... I mean there arent too many multiplayer games coming out right away for it but later on down the round some of us will have to get the extra controllers for this... But hopefully everyone will have one so they can just bring theirs and not have to force me to get another controller or 2...
50 dollars is pretty hefty for a 16-year old with no income (Which may soon change) and no allowance.
Yeah, the controller are what concerns me the most as well. What I did with my 360 was that I waited until the Mad Catz controllers came out, then I bought 3 for the price of one wired Official controller. Then I just force my friends to use Mad Catz and I used my sweeeet wireless controller. (Which is good, since most of my friends now own a 360 anyway.) But this time around, I think I won't even get extra controllers. As long as there are game I can play online, I don't really need them. And my friends... well, they been badmouthing Nintendo since the GameCube, so serves them right. I'm going to sit in my living room and play with my Wii alone... O_o Did that sound as wrong as it did in my head? 8O
Hey skie! you smell that?!?!, Yeah I think it is! Smells like pudding buddy!! pure pudding! and you know what we're gonna do with the pudding.... we're gonna dance in the pudding aren't wii skie?!
Best bet I ever made! <3
Re: Wii Price and Launch Date and More Details Announced!THIS is an AWESOME idea. THIS makes me VERY happy.
Hrm... now I'm REALLY interested in this week's podcast.
$250... well, I'm still plunking that cash down, and then some, just to play some Zelda. I know we all wanted the $199 pricepoint, but- as we all know- Nintendo likes to sell consoles at a profit. And kudos to that. For god sakes, that's how it's got its $5 million war chest. It can afford to make a big gamble like this. Not to mention, Wii Sports is bundled in it. Holy crap, a pack-in game at launch!?!? It's like the SNES days all over again! Also, the Wii Browser is normally 1600 Wii Points, but will be free for people who download it by the end of the year. And jesus christ, it's got the frickin' Virtual Console. 30 games to start. AND ZELDA. Not to sound like a completely rabid Ninty fanboy- because I am- but I'm really excited about the Wii. It's got the pictochat kind of potential- the kind of thing that sells the system simply for the included software- and the Mii channel just might sell it. Nintendo might have lost a bit of it's steam with the Wii's slightly disappointing price point, but it's still justified. Wii will take the Christmas season. Rest assured.
Ok here's the problem with the price which has not been brought up.
Japan gets their Wii for something like $213 I forgot how much exactly and this is including tax I believe. So basically instead of paying something like a solid $200+tax we are forced to buy Wii sports with it. I have a problem with this because although I think Wii sports is cool and interesting I had no plans on getting it and never wanted it, but now they're forcing me to get it like a GS bundle. But of course I'll still be getting one because I've been trying to get all systems and big games at launch since the dreamcast and I always do make use of all three of the main consoles. Please I'm still crazy enough to get a PS3!!!!
Wow. You really are krazy. Not "crazy"... crazy WITH A K. THAT crazy. But, eh, after thinking about it, I most likely will still get the Wii at launch. I want one badly.
