Help! Windows Media Connect + 360 problem!I have been trying to figure this out for a LONG time, so please help.
I really want to stream my music through Windows Media Connect, but my 360 and PC just don't recognize each other at all. I tried all the obvious things, I turned off all firewalls, opened all of the suggested ports, and whatever else the website suggested. Everything is connected with ethernet cables, and my 360 can connect to Live just fine. Please help my make my PC recognize my 360 (and vice versa) !
well you can get the WMP11 beta now and it makes it a bit easier and even rumors of future video streaming without XP media center.
LOKI, I'm using Windows Media Connect, just for the record.
But when I go to the Media tab, then stream music from computer, it searches for the PC with Windows Media Connect, but it can never find it. And when I go on the PC and open WMC and look for the 360 to make it an allowed device, it doesn't show the 360. And I already tried Windows Media Player 11. Still didn't work. (And I have tried TVersity too, just incase someone was going to suggest that)
Your PC and Xbox are connected to the same router, right?
In any case, this sometimes happens with me too - although I use Connect360 on my Mac. Usually, either restarting Connect360 or the Xbox solves it... What does the Xbox say when you try the media connection test?
One time, for some unknown reason, I told Windows Media Connect to disallow access to my 360 and after that there appeared to be no way to get the PC or Xbox to recognize each other. I uninstalled/reinstalled Windows Media Connect and they recognized each other again. You could try reinstalling Windows Media Connect and see if the PC recognizes your Xbox 360.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling WMC, but that didn't work either.
Both the 360 and PC are connected to the same router. The 360 says something like it can't find a PC running WMC. The error codes are: W: 0000-000B X: 0000-F001 Y: 0000-0000 Z: 8000-4005
There is the possibility that your router is actually a switch and therefore won't broadcast messages across the whole network. Have you tried connecting your PC and Xbox directly with a crossover cable and seeing if that works?
