DDR Mario Mix

DDR Mario MixI've played all the way through the DDRMM on Normal and a little of Hard on the gamepad. Here are my thoughts:
1) The gamepad works a lot better than you would think, especially if you've ever played Stepmania with the arrow keys. 2) This game is 100% for the dance pad. There is no real joy in playing it with the gamepad. 3) The music, which I've mostly unlocked, has not been especially good. I got the same feeling I had with Donkey Konga 2. 4) There are too many "beginner" levels for the step patterns. 5) The incredibly rendered backgrounds for the songs are almost completely non-interactive. The Final stage has a little bit. I was hoping for stumbles and misses to show up in the animation. 6) I wished they had broadened the scope to Nintendo characters like Super Smash Bros. 7) I LOVE ENUMERATED LISTS!
Honestly it's a good thing I got it for free because I would of never paid for it. I played it and beat it the night I got it but I have never played it since.
Sort of like Disney
The Disney Mix did have things in common with Mario. Both games start way too easy because they're for kids. Harder levels unlock by beating the easier ones. Both had that funny "they're trying to sell me stuff" feeling. For Disney it was Disney products and for Mario it's GCN Mario stuff. Overall, the steps and the songs were better on the Disney Mix. I think it's because there's not a whole lot of variation possible with the Super Mario Bros theme song. The non-Mario songs are much better. The Disney Mix's worst feature was the grading system. Everything was A, A+, AA, AA+, AAA...AAAA+! When it's all good, it's all mediocre.
