Well, I managed to de-garbagefy my desktop and made it pretty in the proccess, here it is.
I can honestly say the desktop is the only thing I like about Mac OS X.

I use WindowBlinds with the Royale Vista theme, Rainmeter and Rainlendar for the status bars and calendar, and a little utility called Deskview which switches my desktop from "large icons" to "list mode". I also use a utility called Colibri which indexes my start menu; I can hit CTRL-SPACE, type in the first few letters of the program I want to run, and hit ENTER. Much faster and keeps my desktop clean.

( oh and if you wonder why i have no desktop icons, I am super neat and put them all into 2 folders, one called Games and one called Programs, and put them in the Quick Launch bar on the taskbar)
