OLRmy E-Peni... I mean Achievement Points Leaderboard

Meet up with fellow OLR listeners in your favorite multiplayer video games. Remember the cardinal rule of the OLRmy: Don't be a dick.

What is Hardcore?

This Old Spice thing started off badly and really isn't worth anything. However, you don't know what the future challenges will be like, so do it for the level upgrade if nothing else.

As for why the Recreation zone players are scoring more gamer points is best explained by game playing habits. If you are Pro(Hardcore), you will play a game to conclusion, and then squeeze every last gamer point out of a single title.

I bring exhibit A: Loki. How many times have we heard his gaming week was "Chromehounds," "Over-G Fighters" (or was it that other game?), and "GTA Liberty City Stories?" He likes to master the games. It's often dismissed as "Achievment Whoring," but the opposite is true. It takes longer to achieve all points in a single game than to achieve 1000 points over several games.

I bring exhibit B: Me! I like playing the games, not necessarily mastering them. Even games I like replayability get shelved for indefinite lengths of time. So the Recreation Zone player scores all of the easy points by sheer playing style. That means we are the Achievement whores in the Recreation Zone.

The true Achievement whores are those who only play the games for points. I'm currently doing that for the challenge, but I'm loving the games. My latest two are Tomb Raider: Legend and Prey, which are both excellent games.

skie always calls Loki the resident OLR achievement whore but skie has passed him in the rankings

Who's the achievement whore now?

Although I probably shouldn't be saying much since I'm 3rd in the rankings
