Gruntilda Winkybunion is the evil, vain, rhyming master of most creatures throughout Spiral Mountain and the Island of Hags. Using her magical powers and technological superiority there's not a lot that can put up a fight!

Grunty first showed up in Banjo-Kazooie for the Nintendo 64 where she was trying to steel the beauty of Banjo's younger sister Tooty by kidnapping her and hooking her up to a beauty switching machine. Once Banjo and Kazooie reached her final tower Grunty was waiting for them with a quiz based on the worlds explored and questions about her own personal life. Brentilda, Grunty's good sister, would spill the beans on her and let Banjo face her one on one in the tower. Grunty fires a host of spells at Banjo and when all seems lost Grunty is finally stopped by  the all powerful Jinjonator and stranded under a rock at the base of spiral mountain.

A few years later Klungo, her "man" servant, frees her spirit and puts it in a robotic body. They then go back in time in order to take on Banjo and Kazooie in the past. Banjo follows her back and they manage to beat her again returning her under the rock.

3 years later Klungo has enlisted the help of Grunty's sisters; Mingella and Blobbelda to revive her. Who do so but leave her as skeleton in the process. Using their technological marvel the Big-O-Blaster (B.O.B.) Gruntilda and her sisters plan on draining the life from everyone on the Island of Hags and restoring Grunty's body. This doesn't end well for Grunty however as she is again stopped by Banjo and Kazooie this time her body being destroyed and being left as just a head.

8 years later Grunty, as just a head, burrows out from the Ilsand of Hags andd again challenges Banjo. This time the Lord of Games (LOG) stops them in mid fight and transports them to a world of his own design and equips them both with vehicles.  LOG gives Grunty back her body and a new side kick a purple cat named Piddles. This was short lived however as Banjo-Kazooie once again took her down and she was forced to work as a slave in LOGs video game factory.

Grunty informs LOG that bringing her here was a mistake and that she's going to make her own video games.
