AI Closing its doors (for real) Print

Remember when AI was reportedly closing its doors in January, only to have been "saved" by Diamond Plaza?! Well it looks like all that was for naught, as AI is being forced to close its doors. From the original article over at bemanistyle.com:

L.A. County denied the application for a business license extension that was requested by the owners of Diamond Plaza. The County wants the Tao brothers to close shop, pay for a new license, and wait for all of the hearings and city counsel votes in order to stay open (this could take up to 8 months).

So sadly it looks like the end of the line for this landmark location in the BEMANI scene. I hope I don't have to reiterate the sentiment this place held for Orange Lounge Radio during our days on Live365 talking about Konami's BEMANI series (which included games like beatmania (featured in Episode 400 as Classic Game of the Week), Dance Dance Revolution, and GuitarFreaks/drummania.)

So mark your calendars for Feburary 26th. You can read the article here and for those interested in purchasing any of their games to give them a new home, that thread is here.
