Big changes at E3... The Silver Lining, a Kings Quest fan project releases the first demo... XBOX 360 PGR3 bundle not happening... Release Dates... Sopranos 360 canned... Scarface 360 canned... Gears of War spam... FFXI gets achievements and several bands... Nick Murray comes on the show to talk about Bite Me, Music Inspired by Prey... Microsoft Exec disses PS3, Wii Launch... Elite Beat Agents tracklist... Lumines 2 gets a new song... Myspace ads target the horny gamer... Does game violence desensitize us?... and more!

I think our longest "part" yet, lol. (not counting standalone parts, yes there is still a part b coming)

Desensitization for Greater Endurance

Postby robbway » Mon Jul 31, 2006 1:01 pm

I can think of so many good careers where it's advantageous to be less sensitive to violence:
--Emergency Medical Tech
--Policeman
--Doctor
--Nurse
--Soldier
--Veterinarian
--District Attorney
--Prison Guard
--Special Effects Artists

Therefore, I'm pretty sure it is a positive to be desensitized to violence. I just know the study will be used to make false conclusions, since it doesn't address if video games incite violent behavior at all.

EDIT: on a different topic, Cloning Clyde has some funky achievement point values of 11, 14, 12, and 8.

Society needs someone to blame for all the problems and people who play violent video games are an easy target. Without a scapegoat, they'd need to look too closely at what's going on around them. There aren't any games that involve abusing children, but look how much of that goes on.

On a more cheery note, can the person beta testing Saints Row give any tips on how to get onto a beta tester list?

Great show guys, keep it up :D

Just to clarify, LOKI was on the beta test for the new Test Drive game coming to PS2 & XB360... I believe the beta was announced publically on atari's website (? sorry going off memory here). LOKI was just lucky enough to get picked by what I assume is random selection.

Saints Row is in a demo form only. When we taped Sunday it wasn't public yet, only included in a magazine here in the states... but it's now available on Xbox Live's marketplace as of Tuesday... I believe every country has access to this demo except ummm Germany and Mexico (don't ask me why these guys got excluded, I'm just copying major nelsons blog :P )
