LOKI vs. Macintosh

Postby Reenee » Wed Jun 07, 2006 7:10 am

I don't know guys, I think LOKI's made his point now (by "now", I mean "ages ago"). I think it's getting old to prod him over and over.

Maybe we should discuss how cataclysmic Vista will be? :P

EDIT-Holy CRAP, I make this thread and he's on here a minute later! >_>;;

i hate Macs myself but for job purposes i have to use them on a regular basis and i do admit things are slightley better to do things on a Mac but endless Glitching and freezing continues to fuck me over when im editing video clips...

I'm not touching vista with a 10 foot pole. Well at least not with my current PC.

And we all know LOKI's policy on duplicate hardware/devices. 2 for the price of 2?
No problem!

Vista is just a knockoff of Linux as Linux was a knockoff of Windows.

Lately its been hey those Linux people have some great ideas lets make Windows different for a change.

Let go of the old ways of adding more drop downs and new buttons hey how about some programs that will help the guy in accounting organize his desktop.

Windows is free of the constraints of some boring rich dude who I think doubles as the Jack in the box guy.

Hey thats it Jack in the Box- Bill in the Window.

I'm officially taking a stand, that people who say this, are SERIOUSLY ill informed. This has NEVER been the case.
Linux:
Can be 100% operated without a GUI.
Can delete files while they are still in use, with NO ill effects (at least... until said file is no longer in use :), but why are you arbitrarily deleting things in use?).
Gives the option of no less than 30 different "GUIs" to use, ranging from simple window managers, to 'desktop environments', and everything in between.
Comes in no less than 1809591 different flavors, "types" if you will.

KDE and Gnome are just two packages in the grand scheme of things, not to mention if they're broken (or non existent) your computer can still operate just fine.

It's true, for a casual desktop computer, they act similarly. Isn't that the point? Linux developers set up foundations for easy migration from Windows, Window Managers and Developers in general took as many similarities as legally possible so people don't have to learn something 100% new when they try it out.

Oh hey, this topic was about Mac wasn't it?
Oh well, there are Linux distributions that run on the PowerPC architecture :).
