Hey, I have Gametap and they have the original Phantasy Star and I want to say all of the other 3 as well.

They also just added lots of Capcom picks this week... Street Fighter 2 but more importantly... MAGIC SWORD, HELL YES.

I highly recommend a listen to our interview with a GameTap VP if you haven't heard it yet... I want to say it was #172A ?? You can probably still find it on the OLRPSP backroll, if not, send me a PM I'll get you hooked up.

I swear we're not on their payroll, I think people underestimate them as "OMG YOU WANT ME TO PAY FOR EMULATORZ???" ... in our interview, they specifically tell us why their service is better than Emulators. It's great that they'd even "go there"... I still think if they really want to make people notice they need Mac support and Multiplayer, but they realize that too.

Yeah, I heard the interview, but it hasn't sold me yet for a few reasons. Some of what you guys mentioned already; no multiplayer, no Dreamcast. I'm not really a fan of the whole subscription basis for access to a library; the iTunes model would have me definitely. And to be honest the library as a whole hasn't really intrested me; most of the cool games I either already own legit (including all 4 Phantasy Stars and I might have Magic Sword for SNES somewhere) and/or not willing to pay $10 monthly for.

But it has potential, a metric shitton of it in fact. So I have a feeling if they keep at it, keep updating and inovating the model, they will woo me. I mean, they have Space Ghost. If they keep with the entertainment bits, they'll get me eventually.

You do understand that bandwidth costs too, and I don't think you have the hard drive space to store everything permanently :P.

Well, little Dreamcast. And what's there is supposedly buggy.

I didn't say I wouldn't, just not with what's there now. Big difference.

The controls (by default) blew. But now that you can define your buttons for every game, I'm LOVING everything now.

The dreamcast games are absolutely AUTHENTIC. I have not had a single problem with them.
Admittedly, there's only 5.
Hydro Thunder, Crazy Taxi, Arabian Nights, Mr. Driller, Toy Commander

But they run VERY well on my 2.4Ghz (256MB RAM) machine.
Takes a while to stream the game to you... but I mean, come on, GD-ROMs were a little bigger than a CD. Expect to wait.

Best part of GameTap is, you can let a game stream in in the background, and play something else.
You can even load up to 3 games at a time :D.

Anyways, I'm just telling you the truths of the service, seeing as I use it nearly daily. I'm not trying to pressure you into it, I'm just trying to bring you the facts and information straight.

To quote Rob from the last show... we're not on GameTap's payroll, we're not making money off them, we just REALLY REALLY dig what they're doing.
