I think it was really obvious that you didn't play much of FFIV on the PS1. I honestly can't say much about the translation because I never played the old US version (II). The one from cronicles did not suffer from the horrible load times and that was onlt in FFVI and Chrono Trigger if I remember correctly. That verson was also the the hard type and featured better sound quality since it was on a CD. There were also some cut scenes added but no extra areas like in the advance version. I'm also not sure if you can play the other characters later in the game since I never tried and it was a long time ago when I went through it, when it first came out in July 2001.....good times and a fun summer for me :)

Overall FFIV is one of my favorites and any RPG fan should get it. This will help the time go by till FFV and FFVI come out which are even better. I wish they would hurry up on FFIII, the US has been waiting far too long

i think i only played to about the cave that leads to Fabul (probably about 1-2 hrs in) on the PS1 version but i did notice load times and it kinda annoyed me. the GBA moves at a much faster pace-- love it. maybe i noticed the load times more because i did "grow up" on the SNES version...

the PS1 version was pretty much just like FF2 on SNES but with a re-translation and the upped sound. no extra areas or character swapping. the PS1 version was worthy at the time because it had the superior translation to the SNES version, but unfortunatley since i didn't get very far in the game, I don't remember if it's the same translation they've got on GBA now. I somehow don't think it is... but I might be wrong.

Actually, I'm not sure if I've brought this up on the show before, but I have what I call "gamer A.D.D." ... i will bounce from one game to another so fast it will make your head spin. Great for being able to review a lot of games... not so great for actually beating them. LOL... to my credit though I've been a very good boy with playing FFIV, I just picked up Edge which I think places me about 2/3rds of the way through the game. I do still have a shitload of side quests to do.

There seems to be a lot of this going around. I do the same thing. All during Christmas I was flipping GBA games because I was bored to tragic tears. Phantasy Star I to TRON 2.0 Killer App. That's only because PS was making me fall asleep too much.

I don't think you can blame the ipod for taking game sales. You don't walk into a store planning on getting some PS2 crap and walking out with an ipod instead.

yeah. If i wanted to buy a game i would buy a game. iPod isn't taking away business from the gaming industry.
