Episode 288 -- July 20, 2008

Postby DarkTetsuya » Mon Jul 21, 2008 7:47 pm

Welcome to the new format for Orange Lounge Radio where Parts A & B of our live show are now combined! This also means you get new descriptions!

Anyhow in tonights episode, it is expo mania! Our spirits are high having just booked our trip to PAX for August. After a review of the California Extreme show that DarkSakura attended, we wrap up the show we DID NOT attend this year: E3. We recap the press conferences from the big 3 companies. Will the announcement of Final Fantasy XIII on XBOX 360 mean that Rob will never buy a Playstation 3? The crew has some very different opinions on the announcement of Wii Music. The list of announcements goes on and on and on until we get to our Classic game of the week.

After the break, we touch on some other news such as this Dead Rising Wii game we had never ever heard of before E3. We have a cry over E3 no longer being for the core gamers (According to Miyamoto, anyway). Then we have a discussion on the return of Red Pyramid (aka Pyramid Head) to the Silent Hill series, which causes us to declare a new OLR Holiday: Pyramid Head Rape Appreciation Day! (Subject to change due to political correctness).

All this and your phone calls, the mailbag, live chatroom comments and more on Orange Lounge Radio: The place where every gamer has a voice.

REALLY curious if this combined format is working for people. I've gotten good feedback so far mostly...

It works for me. :D Now I don't have to wait till Friday/Saturday for part B and I can spread out the OLR awesomeness at my will.

The new format is much better for me, and gets it all out faster.

I feel like I'm the only one that thinks the new format doesn't work for me. I just have a 1 GB shuffle, and 40-50 megs is all I have for OLR. What I wanted was the two parts to be released at the same time, but seperately. Oh well, I guess I'll try splitting the two parts of the show and decompressing them to become 40 or 50 megs.
(I'll email this later)
Waiting for the day DDR X gets released...

You have a Shuffle? I'm sorry! No, I'm just kidding, but with all the new stuff coming out in the world today, sooner or later the single GB will become antiquated. it's probably better just to slap down the $100 for a new iPod. Even the older ones are dirt cheap now.

I think just splitting up the episode himself or clear some space on his Shuffle will be fine enough... He doesn't need to go out and get a brand new MP3 player over this...

As for the way the podcast is going out, i like it... I think throwing it all in one chunk is nice and the news won't feel so old to some people when they get it all in one day... Plus the addition to the show promo's/bumper's in between the two parts, opens the door to a lot of possibilities...

I get what you're saying, but not everyone has or wants to download mp3-splitting software or get rid of 10-20 songs off their iPod.

But if you use a Shuffle and have a large music collection, wouldn't you be swapping the songs out on a regular basis?

If you ask me i would much rather download a FREE and very EASY to use program like Audacity, (and split the show up on my own) than spend ANY money whatsoever on a new iPod/Mp3 player... Throwing away $100 on something that gives you just a little bit more space is not sensible when you can do it all for free in about 15-30 mins (tops) on your own... Then again its up to katamaris4ever to decide that, not me...
