List of Canceled PS3 Games

Postby gs191 » Sat Aug 05, 2006 8:49 am

Well since this is the era of HD gaming toted by the big two, of course theres going to be a high development cost that decides even if games ever make it out of the door. Unfortunately for these games, as of now they have been canceled.

You can read the original blog post at http://www.technophilia.org/2006/07/list-of-cancelled-ps3-games.html

The games so far are:
Killing Day (the impressive FPS shown at E3 05)
Thesis (delvelopment still is continued for X360/PC)
Elveon (development still is continued for X360/PC)
Endless Saga (the only PS3 exclusive MMORPG at the launch window)
Condemned:Criminal Origins (its only being ported to the PC as of now)
Smackdown 07 (even though its going out on all the major consoles inculding X360 and PS2, the developer decided to wait for Smackdown 08 for the PS3)
Oblivion (nobody realy knows about the fate of Oblivion for the PS3, some say it will come out but nothing as of yet from the developer, only time will tell)
And last but not least, the major shocker - Splinter Cell:Double Agent will not be released on the PS3, an employee on the ubi soft fourms said it himself.

So what does this mean for the PS3 development cycle, who the hell knows, all i know is that if the developent for the HD-era of gaming has already happened with the PC since hardware for it can already push 1280x720 (720p) and nearly 1920x1080 (1080p) with crazy multi-thousand dollar gaming rigs. All i know if that the HD era of gaming causes even a handfull of games from never getting out of the door, I rather be better of living in the past.[/b]

Oblivion is coming out. We have a sku for it at my work. This was confirmed by our Take Two rep (they distribute for Bethesda).

A lot of the games were never really announced, such as Double Agent, so I wouldn't really consider them cancelled.
