TechTV + G4 = ?

Postby VxJasonxV » Fri Mar 26, 2004 6:38 pm

Ok, Skie covered this on Vanilla Skie about a month ago, and Lankystyle wasn't exactly thrilled about it, but I wanted to throw my point out there.

First of all, a 'confirming' news article (over at wired news) says Comcast is indeed buying TechTV and merging it with G4.

Lankystyle was very quick to say, they're taking a good channel, and mergering it with a shitty channel, and the end result is now TechTV will go down the tubes, or whatever the merged channel may be called.

I have to dispute that claim.

TechTV repeats so many shows, it's quite awful. G4 does it EVEN MORE. What does this mean? We can get the best of both worlds.
As soon as they change up the scheduling, I should no longer be able to tune to TechTV and see the Screen Savers (the same episode) THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY.

Don't even get me started on all the 'conspiracy' and other lesser watched show repeats... not to mention the amount of times I've seen a few certain episodes of X-Play either.

In short, this merger may not be a bad thing. We'll have Gaming Channels, which the TechTV staff can work with to make A HELL OF A LOT BETTER. We'll have Tech shows (hopefully they'll keep Anime Unleashed around), and still quite a reasonable amount of misc. shows.

We'll see how it all pans out though.

Anyone agree/disagree?

You make a good point and all, but lets not forget, the whole thing is going to be owned by COMCAST. Isn't that frightening enough? :?

*shrugs* I hear your gripes, but they don't do much to me, because I don't use comcast, so I don't know just HOW BAD it is :P.
Sorry :D.
