People, here's why the DS owns:

Judging by history, it seems that the reason people enjoyed the Gameboy so much was becuase of its long lasting battery life, and its cheapness. There were several other portable gaming devices out when the Gaemboy was first released, but they failed because of extremely low battery life. (Some of those devices even had color.)

Needless to say, if we now compare the PSP (Around 300 dollars, and the official statement from Sega claims it will have a 2-12 hour battery life) to the Nintendo DS (Merely 150$, and over 20 hours of battery life) I think we can assume which is bound to be the better system.

In other news, there's also going to be a third-party peice of hardware that allows you to listen to mp3s on the DS, and there's soon to be a release of a WiFi enhancer, allowing players to use the multiplayer system farther than just 30-or-so feet.

AAAAND... that's all I have to say. The DS wins hands down.
