Wii update woes?

Postby JustiNIC » Sun Nov 19, 2006 2:42 pm

So while installing the first batch of updates, mine took so long the first time that it froze and I had to turn the power off and try again. Upon restarting the update process it worked fine. I got to another set up updates later on, took a three-hour nap, and the progress bar hadn't moved since I fell asleep. I just restarted it about ten minutes ago and it is moving s-l-o-w-l-y.

Anybody else having similar issues? Do you think it's the day one server blockage, or is something more sinister at work here?

The updates took a little while for me, I'd say about 20-25 minutes total.

Yeah, mine finally finished after it stopping twice and having to restart. It's all good now though. Now if only I could get some Wii points added so I could hit up that Virtual Console! Can't wait for this initial flood to die down a bit.

I'm not sure how it is in other parts of the country, but here in central Ohio, the Wii point cards are fairly easy to find, but the classic controllers were almost impossible to find today. I had one pre-ordered from my EB, but they didn't get any of the classic controllers. I finally found one at Walmart. I walked in, two were on the shelf, I grabbed one and a guy behind me grabbed the other.

I'm sure things will become more available in the next couple of weeks, but this weekend was crazy here.

I would guess it's because it's day one. Many people are setting up their consoles and downloading the update. I actually don't recall my update taking longer than 10 minutes, though.

You're lucky you found one of those Classic Controllers (I'm also from Central Ohio). I haven't run into any of them today, and I don't even recall seeing any at the Circuit City I got my console from (The one on Polaris Pkwy). The same goes for the Nunchuk; the Circuit City had some but they were snatched up instantly, and every other place I checked today was sold out of them.
