Circuit City wants to make your 360 Backwards Compatable

Postby ssj100matt » Sat Sep 02, 2006 11:50 pm

I know this is old news but im wondering what peoples opinion is on this...

Kotaku and gameblog have discovered Circuit Citys new attempt to swindle your money... Circuit City's pitch is that for $28.99 they will rig up your Xbox 360 so that you can play your Xbox games on Microsoft's next-gen platform.

Now any regular gamer knows that you can use the Live AutoUpdater to make your 360 backwards compatable free of charge... Its silly and a bit sneaky on Circuit Citys part but like any business they are just trying to cash in on uneducated consumer...

My guess is that they figured out that us CAG.com folk have ripped them off for too long... Oh wait did i say that out loud ....

Anyways your thoughts on this?

Sucks. Consumers shouldn't have to jump through hoops to enjoy their toys.

Somebody should go try to get games working on it right there in the store, and make sure to bring a few games that aren't on the backwards compatibility list, and then kindly ask why the backwards compatibility doesn't work. See if the resulting throw-out-of-the-store can get noticed on the local news or something.

Bonus points if you are pulled out while screaming "But I'm a citizen of Circuit City! I demand to see the mayor!"

I really think that this is targeted towards the person that doesn't have a high speed internet connection.

OXM has all the Back-compat updates on their disk since the November issue I believe.

But it's better than paying $30 (or however much) for essentially the same thing, if you don't happen to subscribe to XBL, for whatever reason. (For CC to do it, I mean.)

I agree, but it's up to the consumer.
