Arcade Heroes and the 'best games of this decade'

Postby DarkTetsuya » Thu Dec 03, 2009 10:28 am

At this site there's a poll for the 'best arcade game of 2009'.

BUT

At the end of the article, they mention a 'Game of the Decade' poll, and feature a short list of some of the games that came out each year leading up to this year...

Except he didn't list that many BEMANI games, says he's not that familliar with them.

Next thing you know I made a series of posts with all the releases I could come up with (and boy let me tell you there were a lot of games)

Unfortunately it looks like he's limiting it to two or three entries, so I thought I'd ask you guys to help me pick:

I'd say IIDX peaked around 6th or 10th style, before they changed the name. That's just me though.

My favorite DDR Mix will always be 4th plus, but I think DDRMAX2 is the most deserving of the bunch for recognition. Remember how everyone got together to get a lot of "points" for the unlocks?

Yeah thinking back I think for DDR I'll go with MAX2, cuz I do remember those days (And how about how pissed we all were when the managment erased all our hard work?!)

And I actually 'acquired' 6th style cs recently, definetly a diverse songlist :D

Welp, I was hoping I could wait till sunday to get everyone's input, but I just heard the 'Game of the Decade' poll is going up later today, so I submitted what I thought were the best picks:

beatmania IIDX 6th Style - if the arcade songlist is anything like the one on PS2, then this is definetly one of my top favorite styles out there. great repeats, some awesome Eurobeat selections (including one or two that weren't in any PPP)

... not to mention one of the first big home releases we talked about back in 2002 :P

DDRMAX2: Dance Dance Revolution 7th Mix - As rob said, back in the day when RVGL got this we all banded together to tackle the unlock system (while having to deal with crushing losses to the operator-powered 'speed unlock' codes. ><) Also featuring a really great songlist, awesome KO's (cmon, Burning Heat!?! It doesn't get much more awesome than that.) as well as a good selection of Dancemania tracks for the time (Long Train Runnin', Living in America, Stay ... all very awesome)
