Arcade Japan Los Angeles

Postby danzik » Wed Aug 15, 2007 8:35 am

I was up in LA this weekend and stumbled upon an arcade in Little Tokyo called Arcade Japan. It was pretty well packed with odd import games and some mainstream also. Some of the machines were in a bit of disrepair but, most were in good shape.

Quite a few bemani style machines too. They have the Taiko drum machine, a keyboard style game, I think it was called typing of the dead, and a few other odd ones like that.

There were a number of older kids playing the DDR machines and they were pretty good. Anyone listeners been there? I highly recommend checking it out.

I've been to this place a couple of times but I haven't been in a couple of years... I seem to recall the mall that the arcade was in was really struggling... there used to be a big japanese bookstore downstairs where I bought Jamie a copy of Harry Potter in japanese once that ended up closing down...

Ya, that's the place. The mall itself is pretty run down, we actually thought it was abandoned at first. There are still a few pretty neat stores contained within. There's a Mitsuwa and a some odds and ends shops. Strangely enough, the LA Roller Dolls practice rink is located upstairs.
