I need some help burning some things....

Postby sephiroth1215 » Fri Feb 17, 2006 9:59 pm

I just downloaded two separate things and they appear to be images, but the problem is I have never heard of these. One of them is an APE file and the other is a 7Z file. Can someone please tell me what these are and how to put them on cds.

UPDATE: I figured out the APE file but it only plays as one music track :(

7z is a 7zip file. They're highly compressed zip files. Use 7zip to extract from them.

I think .ape files are compressed audio....

I googled it and it came up as a "Monkey Audio Collection" file tag

Get the Monkey's Audio encoder.
http://www.monkeysaudio.com/

Decode the APEs into a WAV
Then burn the WAV to a CD (audio cd I presume?)
If not an audio CD, then get something else like dbPowerAmp to convert the WAV into an MP3 and burn it to your mp3 CD.

Ugh yeah I already did that but it plays the whole CD as "CDimage" therefore only one track :(

Got a cue sheet perhaps?
If not, you'll have to split it up yourself.

Whoever ripped it that way is a jackass assuming they didn't make a cue sheet.
(Even then they're still a jackass. cuesheets for the lose when it comes to music)
