19, November: 20, November: (KONAMI WILL SUE, so I can't link you to download directly.)
That's right boys and girls, it's that time of year... So you know what that means! I Love That Song revisits two sentimental favorites, Good-Cool's 19, November and dj nagureo's 20, November!
And to answer your question, no I don't know why good-cool decided to call his song 19, November when it doesn't sound anything like 20, November.
20, November has been with the BEMANI series for as long as I can remember, with various appareances in beatmania, IIDX, and even in DDR as early as 3rd MIX!
19, November actually came 2nd, first debuting in beatmania IIDX 6th Style, and later appearing in DDR Ultramix 2 for the XBOX, and I believe also appeared on one of the Japanese PS2 versions post-Extreme. (EDIT: I just discovered that legendary DDR freestyler Mel B actually crafted the steps for this song's appearance in DDR!)
As an aside, djnagureo actually has a twitter @djnagureo although he only speaks Japanese it seems. But if you want to see a particular song featured here, hit myself (@darktetsuya) or act_deft (@act_deft) on twitter!
Rock Band and Harmonix, Kinect Hacks, Nintendo Trademark, Fallout New Vegas, Microsoft suing Motorola, Call of Duty Black Ops, Possible Steam Boycott, Saints Row Movie, Wii 2 and MORE on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice- Orange Lounge Radio
On this episode, we talk about the news that Harmonix is up for sale. Being the music game fans we are, we ponder the effect this could have on Rock Band-- if any at all. You might be surprised that some hosts think it's not as big of a deal as you'd think. The Kinect has been out for a couple weeks now, so it comes as no surprised that "hackers" have made the Kinect do new things. Nintendo files a trademark on a phrase we've never really said anyway, and a popular DS game heads to Japan.
Call of Duty Black Ops has sold tons of copies-- but whatever happened to those boycotts? A cheaper price to pay for video games sounds like something we won't boycott anytime soon, but is there a catch to this cheaper price? All this and MORE including your chatroom antics, live phone calls, twitter topics, e-mails and MORE on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice- Orange Lounge Radio!
Yeah, okay. This was just an excuse to feature the Rob Roberts parody cover of everyone's favorite 3rd MIX+/ITG license, Bambee's Bumble Bee! The cover is just one of those things you can't unhear, and you'll never hear the original the same way again! As mentioned earlier it also made an appearance on DDR's only competition, In The Groove. Interstingly it featured different steps and a longer cut of the song, compared to its 3rd MIX+ counterpart.
But back in the day, when the hosts used to hijack the stream 'cause we fuckin' feel like it) Rob Roberts used to do these 'ddr parody sing-alongs' and this was probably his most memorable performance. Affectionately known as the 'skie's voice: the game' edit, it was written by two of the shows fans at the time. It would eventually go down in the history books as one of OLR's fondest memories. Check it out now in Orange Lounge Revolution!
And if you liked this pick, stay tuned till Saturday when I celebrate a special pair of days to BEMANI fans such as myself.... see you then!
As promised last week at the end of my retrospective on Konami's Castlevania series, I mentioned that this week's installment would highlight the games of one of the most popular game creators ever, Hideo Kojima! So hit the jump below!
